What the hell is a flying green song-rabbit?!

Grongbit (GReen sONG rabBIT) is the result of our nicknames combined. "Our" meaning the three founding authors. The flying comes from our guest-turned-permanent blogger, Butterfly Coffin.

And yes, rabbits can too fly, sing and be green.

Guess what I got...

Please allow me to indulge and be spoilt for this post!

So yesterday I had a lesson off at Uni in the afternoon and decided I wanted to go see the Artexpress with my crush. We went by a watch store on the way and as I'd been on the lookout for a new watch since Christmas time went inside for a quick look not expecting to find anything.

Daddy had promised to get me a new watch as I have spent somewhere in the vicinity of $80-$90 trying to repair my ancient at least 10year old automatic Sieko watch. Being very upset at the fact that it seemed irrepairable, my parents decided my dad will buy me a nice new watch. Not the markets $10 type watch a real nice one.

So I took them to Gregory and they decided NO Chanel, NO Omega, NO Longines.

Lol maybe I scared them a little with my definition of nice! XD

Anyway I went into the watch store and saw a beautiful watch... like omfg. I want! The watch face was a bit big for my liking but I decided to take a look anyway. I put it on and was hooked! The fact that it was discounted to about where my dad said was acceptable and the pretty elegant design got me hooked.

Sadly it was 1pm in the afternoon and I could not call my dad to confirm whether I could buy it or not as I could not really recall if it was within my dad's price range. So the sales assistant said he will reserve it for me for an hour and I can pick it up later if I was really set on it.

He put it in an envelope for me and we went off to AGNSW to see the Artexpress.

Artexpress had some interesting artworks but they mostly had similar themes. It seems always that at least one of the artworks has to be about aboriginal heritage, sexism, feminism, racism, teenage emoness, globalisation, poverty, cultural heritage, music, individuality etc. I swear every year, all the works embody at least one of those themes.

I'm not saying the artwork isn't all of excellent quality but it gets a bit repetitive.

We were hungry by then so we went down the escalators to the gallery restaurant to have a quick lunch. I felt so classy sitting outside looking at the view while eating expensive food at the art gallery. then again we were wearing thongs and backpacks and paint splattered shorts and singlets haha.

So at lunchtime I gave a call to my mum who told me to just get the damn watch. Mummy is so nice!

So we walked back to the watch store and the guy had left it reserved although he said he was only going to reserve it for one hour. One swipe of the card and some boxing later and the beauty is mine!

Watch in box.

Pretty watch!

It's so hard taking photos of it cuz my light was blanking out the screen. It's a Citizen Eco Drive watch, 100m water resistant. The back is mother of pearl and 24 diamonds pave the outer rim of the watch.

See so pretty yeh??

It's my pride and joy atm and with 5 years warranty I'll be wearing it for the longest time.

I'm sitting here staring at my abnormally large muffin top, wondering if I would ever accomplish losing all this excess body mass.

My New Years resolution from 2 years ago was to lose weight and attain my ideal of 55kg with leaner thighs and tummy. Instead, I went from 62kg to 69kg as of just a couple of weeks ago.

Complete FML!

62kg doesn't seem that bad in comparison...

I suppose it is all just numbers and to be honest, it is. It doesn't really matter if you are a few kilos over as long as you still look healthy and glowing. After all, a girl with a bit of meat and likes to eat is very attractive.

Before I left for America I was roughly 63kg down from 65kg. It's hard to believe that I gained approximately 5kg in the space of a month, eating whatever I liked (majority of it made up of cheese and carbs). Not only that, when I came back I was visibly bigger; my cheeks were rounded again, my double chin more pronounced and my tummy bigger than I have ever seen it in my entire life.

And now I wonder to myself, do I deserve this with my uncontrollable gluttony and bad sleeping habits? It is definitely all my fault that I let this happen. I have not respected my body and give it the exercise, fibre and unsaturated fats that I need.

So I'm sitting here scratching my itchy arms, overworked from the vigorous jumping around I did earlier that strained my blood vessels.

I think about the cellulite beginning to form on my thighs and bottom, the same thighs and bottom that no longer fit my favourite Sass & Bide skinnies. Heck, I can't even pull up my new Levi's I just brought back from America!

I see the photos from the Gold Coast trip and cringe; did I always have those fat rolls on my back?

And lastly, I ask myself if I will continue growing wider and heavier as the years go by (I remember just several years ago when I was 54kg) and end up being 75kg in just a couple more years? What about after my first pregnancy, will I be one of those overweight mothers who can't drop the weight no matter how hard they try?

I shudder.

I realise the path I am on yet don't want to stop indulging in the newest foods. I have yet to try many things that I must eat before I die such as foie gras, squid ink pasta and rat. YES RAT!

As I stare at the bump that looks as though I am 3 months pregnant, I think "God, am I fat!".

Where to Find Bargains...

I thought I covered this a bit in the previous post but continuing from that post is too long.. so I started a new post!

and S I thought I told you a few places already over MSN!

Anyway continuing on:

accessories:
There is no passing up Diva for cheap accessories. The non sale items are a tad expensive at times but once sales are on it's hooray! Usually Diva sales are those "buy one get 2nd one half price" or "buy one get one free" or "$5/$3 and under." Wait for the $5/$3 and under sales. But you gotta be lucky to get to the sales during the first week it comes on sale or some stuff like rings run out of sizes/styles. Diva also recently opened an online store: Diva

I think I mentioned before that Supre had some nice belts. Other chain stores like ValleyGirl also are starting to stock up on some nice accessories/belts for cheap prices. Since they're mostly for clothes a lot of people don't seem to check out the accessories section and miss out.

Shoes!!
I love Freelance which is on level 2 at Parramatta Westfields. I don't know if it's a chain store or not but they have a pretty nice selection of flats for about $40-$50. They also always have a Sales section where previous items (from about a month ago) end up usually at about 20% off. You can usually find some nice heels for about $45-$80 but I always have crappy luck with shoe sizing during sales.

I also quite like Wanted. They also always seem to have a constant sales rack but I hate the heels on sale. I've bought 2 pairs of flats from them though. Zu currently has sales on a lot of shoes. It stocks massive chunky heels which are my favourite!! Also I always check out places like Nine West, Wittner and Aldo waiting to fish a bargain. It's dangerous though sometimes to go into these stores as yesterday I fell in love with a $179.95 pair of heels at Wittner.

I hate Rubi shoes.

Clothing
I try to shop around (westfields parramatta) when trying to find clothes and try not to stick to one place. I like Level 2 for their consistently cheap stuff. I forget what that stores called... It's on the path facing Dymocks bookstore. It's sort of opposite Platypus shoe store. Anyway it's run by Asians and has some forgettable shop name. It stocks a lot of 'trendy' items like ripped jeans, cropped tops, floral, studs, lace etc. Most dresses that are new stock are about $40 but sometimes they go on sale for $20 and that's when I buy them. It's opposite this other Asian store "Made in USA" which is shit.

When I'm not in a rushed mood I'll usually survey the whole 2nd floor but otherwise I visit stores where I'll frequently find something. Cotton On and I have a bored-interested relationship. Sometimes I buy a lot of stock, other times I go months without finding anything interesting. I like their T-shirts and their cardigans most as they're layerable and easy to throw on. They also have some nice skirts at times.

That new copycat store @Topshop has some really cheap stuff. I've bought 1 dress from there which was really versatile. I guess if you don't mind crappy quality and squishy people and racks too close together then it's alright.

I hate that cheap store, Tightrope at times. But I have bought my favourite floral skirt there at a crazy price of $35 when they sell stuff for $2. I absolutely hate the change room curtains though. I like to avoid stores with those high to the ceiling curtains that require much tugging and get me in a bad mood before changing.

I dunno why I don't like going into Jeans West or Just Jeans or Jay Jays much. SES I also hate. Especially the Parramatta store. I just feel angry everytime I step into that store. But the other day with Serena I bought a top there while in a good mood but not at the Parramatta store. Also Jay Jays although their jeans are cheap at $39 or was it $49. Waiting for sales for better labeled jeans is a lot better. I bought a pair of Jay Jays black skinny jeans the other day just because my Crush said I don't wear jeans so I had my eyes peeled for a pair of jeans. I should not have wasted that money because I ordered a Sydney based designer's jeans (Trash Tusa) online for $50 from over $150 RRP. Trash Tusa is stocked in Zero stores. It should arrive tomorrow in the mail hopefully or latest Monday (hope they fit!). So yeh if you aren't desperate for jeans troll places with a range of branded jeans for sales.

Places like Forever New, Portmans, Bardot and General Pants make me happy when I find a sale item I love. (Oh these places also stock some cool accessories. I love Portman's more stylish/sophisticated accessories. And Forever New has some really pretty clothes, lots of floral, cocktail dresses, lace, whites and creams and pinks. There's also always a sales rack which has some nice sale items. Sadly I rarely find anything I like from the sales rack as they mostly go through a "Last Chance" rack first and by the time it gets to the sales rack a lot of the stuff is damaged especially since a lot of their stuff has sequins and delicate parts that are easily damaged.

Bardot Sales are so awesome. When they're super super cheap like less than $20 all the girls go crazy. There is clothes EVERYWHERE on the floor... shoved in randomly. They also squish all the clothes hangers in until it's overstuffed so coat hangers stick out everywhere and urgh it's a mess. Almost makes me hate sales.

Oh I also like Forcast. They have some pretty blouses. Last time I bought 2 for $50. I think they always have a small sales rack. The stores next to it (forget their names also has some good stuff).

I like General Pants. They have a wide selection of small Australian designers. I don't know if it's just lately but it seems they've had sales for a really long time.... so maybe they always have a permanent display sales rack. They have a really relaxed feel to their clothes (eg. all that slouchy gear I bought before).

Oh I also like that really slutty store I think it's on level 3 or 4 in Westfields Parramatta. It's next to a formal store I think near the lifts. It has a rack outside it's door. All the mannequins wear really slutty dresses with cut outs and low backs and low fronts and too many sequins and too tight and too short. Yes I know such words exist in my dictionary haha. I never venture past the first rack at the very front. The first rack stocks some cheap $20ish items from Mink Pink. I love Mink Pink, if only I can hoard more.

Um... what other stores do I love. I'm really bad with store names so yeh... other stuff I buy I buy randomly from random stores around the city and such and I don't recall where it is I bought it or it's from a chain store readily found in Parramatta Westfields. If I set out to shop and want to achieve this then I always go Parramatta Westfields because I like shopping in shopping centres, I can turn around and buy it stuff later on if I change my mind!

My Crush has said he doesn't like shorts or skirts high waisted, he doesn't see why I put so much emphasis on high heels and he prefers tight clothing (Pfft typical guy). But then when I look at him with something in my hands or tell him I'm going to wear so and so that he doesn't like he just gives me a sigh and says I can wear whatever I like. HAHAHAHA.

The other day I said I wanted to buy a tutu to wear around normally. At first he was like "wtf?? Even to Uni??" In the end he said he'll have to buy me some ballet flats to suit then. I think I'm awfully kind too that I let him wear his singlets and shorts and almost cargo style shorts. See very tolerant too!

Btw yesterday I fell in love with these shoes. Has anyone ever seen something at the shops and it's just taken your breath away and you don't quite understand why? Well I was browsing Wittner for fun at Bondi Junction. I surveyed the whole store and then I saw it... the prettiest pair of shoes attracting me... Now usually I'm not a suede girl since I think it dirties easily.. but when I saw these... I wanted them so much!! They were $179.95 which is WAAAAY too much considering i recently spent $300+. It was a love that happened under the worst of circumstances...

They are so comfortable as well. After I got home I couldn't stop thinking about them... and today at work I kept thinking about them..(dare say more than my Crush wtf). After work i devised a clever plan for my dad to take me to Westfields so I could buy some Aloe Vera Gel for my sunburn. He said there was a Woolworths near work not at Westfields but I persisted and said I wasn't going Woolworths to find it... When I got to Westfields I bought the gel from Woolworths in their new self serve counter. Then ran (literally) to the Wittner store 2 floors down. There I grabbed the pair I've been thinking about for a day and asked the lady for my size. The shoe is so new in fact the one in my size had never been tried on and was wrapped up very very nicely... I slipped them on my feet and stood up in them. They were very comfortable. Sadly I placed them back and sneaked 2 photos on my phone for myself to daydream about...

Maybe I do have a shopping problem. Should I buy them?

Shopping and Basically Spending a Lot of Cash

EDIT: Photos added.

Aloha! Status update on Serena: SHOPPING MUAHAHAHA!

Spent the entire day (Wednesday) driving around Albuquerque and shopping.

Not much to see here, not really.

Open the post!

I was ruthlessly woken up by Mr. N at the ungodly hour called 9am and took me an hour to get out of bed. The horror of having to get up before 12! We left the house at 11 and first went to Cottonwood Mall. This was mostly to exchange the skirt that I bought from Forever 21 because the lining was messed up (note to all who shop at Forever 21, check that zippers work and all that). I then bought another skirt lol. This was a dark blue pleated tulip skirt with large black dots. It looked pretty cute and poofy :D I am currently moving away from my signature poofy flare skirts and going for something more structured and stylish. I was worried that it made my ass big...

Oh I definitely will be looking to buying some Forever 21 clothes online. The only store here is at Cottonwood and though pretty big, it does not have a lot of the things I want. My online shopping cart currently has $266 worth of stuff ^^;

We then went back to Dillard's to look at shoes again. I bought a pair of original black Converse All Stars, nice and versatile. I also tried on the military style booties and decided once and for all that I was not going to get them because they will most definitely be uncomfortable and chafe along my ankles.

I headed out to Victoria's Secret to buy the pj set as the last thing but when I got there I couldn't find the sign that said it was on sale from $49 down to $39. My thought is that they are no longer on sale. I was pretty pissed off after that and didn't feel like I wanted to shop anymore. I really wanted to buy stuff from VS! I stormed out of the shopping centre all annoyed and pissed and N persuaded me to go to Sally Beauty Supply to get the stuff I wanted and I agreed begrudgingly.

Oh man, I got pissed then un-pissed at N so many times today. He's gonna drive me nuts if I don't drive him nuts first.

The drive down to Sally's was quick, everything is situated along that road and it's fairly easy to find things as long as you have a car.

I bought a SHIT TONNE of beauty stuff from Sally's. That place is awesome. I got 4 China Glaze nail polishes, on sale 2 for $10 so I saved about $4. Some famous Queen Helene masques (the cashier said she also used the same products and loved it, thought I made a good choice), more nail stuff, a pair of pretty crystal earrings and another favourite product, Ardell Lash and Brow Excel which some claim to really help grow thicker, longer lashes, and I plan on giving that to you Midori, if you want it. I don't know what to give you guys except American candy D: Or maybe I'll keep it for myself hohoho~

All together I bought $60 worth of beauty products...

And it gets worse because we eventually went to Coronado Mall, the biggest one in the state of New Mexico and I bought the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion from Sephora. Near Sally's was Target, checking out Porkie's games and Mr. N's CD. We ended up going to Walmart, the huge one (imagine your typical grocery store, then triple it to sell clothes, electronics and furniture and you get Walmart with at least 20 aisles) and Best Buys where we finally found one of the CDs and I bought the games Zelda: Spirit Tracks and KH: 368/2 Days.

For lunch I had a chicken burger from Chick-Fil-A which N says makes the best chicken sandwiches. All it was was a thick fillet of crumbed chicken and pickles in a burger bun. Simple as that was, it was some pretty moist, juicy chicken. I forgot to get a root beer with my meal and got a Sprite. I don't know what they offer here xD I was pleasantly surprised to find the bun buttered.

Anyway at Coronado I looked at the bigger Victoria's Secret and they also didn't have the sale stuff anymore. They also don't have the "buy a pj set get free slippers" offer which was there one week ago. Oh well. I tried on some bras to see what size I am and N came up with the brilliant idea of ordering the stuff online if the stores don't have it since the sales were still there online, plus a 15% discount off all purchases ending today. Walked around the mall a bit; N said he was definitely coming back to check this mall out sometime, and unfortunately had to go because we were going to see the River of Lights at the Rio Grande Botanic Garden and it was almost 6pm. Quickly bought a caramel apple and some chocolate truffles and went down to the River of Lights.

Wow.

It was freezing cold. A lot of the small ponds in the gardens was frozen over. But the lights display was surprisingly impressive. Took a lot of photos!

Such a pretty display of snowmen!

Frosty the snowman wtf.

Too dark, oh well at least I can hide my uglyness wtf.

Entrance.

Tower with light soldiers on the top and a flowering vine!

Close-up of the vines.

Giant wind chime?

We walked into a pumpkin house and inside was a spider web and pumpkin seeds floating from the top! At first I thought it was spider eggs infesting the pumpkin and was gonna take over the pumpkin when the hatch T_T

Giant radish. Giant seems to be a common theme.

Giant carrots with lights WTF.

This unicorn was actually flapping its wings!

Look look! This light feature had butterflies that flew out from the flowers!

Carolers.

I think this is part of the river or at least a lake?

Train tracks with a real moving train.

Had to wait ages for the train to come around so we walked on and ambushed it!

We walked through pretty much the whole garden and desperately needed to warm up so Mr. N bought us hot chocolates with the 5 bucks he found on the floor LOL. It was very hot, sweet and marshmallows were complimentary and self-serve. I put a lot in :D so gooood.

Dinner was a Californian Pizza Kitchen. N was craving it because he hadn't had it for a very long time, since he last worked there back in San Diego. It's actually quite a nice restaurant with a wine selection, though it does serve really good pizza.

Pea soup with sourdough and butter and BBQ chicken pizza. Soup was average but warm, I actually liked the bread basket more. The pizza though was so very very nomnom.

After that we were too full to eat anything else because hot chocolate + caramel apple + dinner = fatness so we went home after that lolol.

Thursday night we ran out to get some Chinese food at Rose Garden which is N's favourite place to get his Mongolian beef. The dumplings are awesome though I have a feeling they are beef not pork dumplings. Nevertheless, it was SUPER GOOD. I had a wonton soup with rice noodles which only costed $3.50 O_O N's dish was a bit more expensive but tasted pretty good though personally I prefer more sauce. Easily fixed, poured the dumpling soy sauce and it tasted much better.

Currently shopping list:

  • 6 nail polishes
  • 2 face masques
  • 4 skirts
  • 1 pair of shorts
  • 5 tops
  • 3 shoes
  • 2 beauty/makeup products
  • 4 bras
  • 1 set of pjs

Total spendage?

$400US

That includes the stuff I got online from F21 and VS :D

Ciao bellas!

If I had all the money in the world...

So right now I'm studying for exams. But what I really want to do is shop.

I hate how when exam time rolls around my mind starts to wander and so does my fingers onto websites I shouldn't be on...

This holiday, if I can find myself a decent job, I would like the following...

Shoes...

From top right and clockwise:

Alexander Wang Duffel Bag: This bag is.... too expensive for my student budget so I was just gonna go to Gmarket and source a similar shape then buy some studs and make my own lol. I do desperately need a new uni bag but i can stitch up my old one to be good as new again if I want to be cheap...

Jeffrey Campbell Tick Wedge Booties: at over $200 I can't afford these =(. However I saw very similar ones for $150 at Zu. For some reason I can't find it on the Zu website though. I can really contemplating buying the Zu ones... They're so comfortable and the soles are so soft and cushiony.... I can imagine them with my jeans, shorts, skirts, dresses....

I'd also like the Jeffrey Campbell Potion shoes but not sure if I can pull it off at all...Actually any of the Jeffrey Campbell shoes will do for me...

Dr Marten look a likes: I wish I can find a nice cheap alternative to Docs. I dont like the yellow stitching on Docs. It would be so good to wear in summer with floaty dresses with its low heel...Gmarket here I come to source them...

Sam Edelman Zoe Boots: At $350... this is merely shoe porn.

Acne Atacoma Booties: At about $600...I think the Zu wedges are a similar shape right...I've been trying to find shoes with a mirror heel for ages with no such luck =\. But these are out of the question.

Chanel Classic Flap: These were always on my wishlist just its priority shuffled back and forth. I WAS planning to get them this holiday but now that I think about it I want too many shoes...

Salvatore Ferragamo Flats: I love these. They're my perfect flat shoes I will wear ALL the time when I start working professionally. My favourite scientist/lecturer/inspiration wears these too (but I liked them before I saw her wear them). They're around $500 and my original plan was to splurge on these with the money I saved up from the two tutoring jobs I have.

Random fedora: Everytime I see a fedora, I try it on...Everytime I try it on I'm reminded of my flat head that is not suited for hats...I still want one...

On top of these is the fact that summer is coming and I desperately need a new swimsuit. I saw the prettiest one that fit me for like $70-80 and I really want to get it! (It's really rare to find some swimwear I like that doesn't make me depressed about my body shape -.-)

So I know this is such a materialistic post and I don't even think these shoes are to any of you guys liking...but how many of the above should I get...

PS please excuse how many links I put up cuz S just told me how to link stuff and I thought to better understand why I want half this stuff you can go look at the links with pretty pretty pictures in all its glory lol. And I don't know why they're all black stuff...

Oh and I'm also looking for a new camera. Mainly looking at another Sony camera with more megapixels (like 12?) instead of my crappy current 6.0. That'll probably set me back another $200-350. I find digital camera are very bad at taking dim light photos....Anyone know a camera that is compact but takes photos like SLR? (btw B, what makes an SLR an SLR?)

I hate exams. I cant go to the Sass and Bide Sale, I can't go Sculpture by the Sea, I can't go to and eat Adriano Zumbo's birthday celebration macarons...Grrr...

Now back to Biochemistry starvation notes.
